Extra - Curricular Activites
What music-related activities are offered at St. John's?

Music is a strong part of Lutheran heritage.

Psalm 104:33 - "I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live."
Psalm 92:1 - "It is good to give thanks to the LORD and to sing praises to Your name."

Children are given a variety of
opportunites to participate in activities related to music.
  • Piano lessons are offered during the school day to interested students in Grades 3 - 8.  Lesson fees are paid directly to the piano teacher.  Students in Grades 3 - 5 have 20 minute lessons.  Students in Grades 6 - 8 have 30 minute lessons.
  • Students in Grades 3 - 8 may take band lessons through an instructor from Winnebago Lutheran Academy (WLA) located in Fond du Lac.  The instructor comes to St. John's during the school day.  Arrangements for the lessons and payment are made through WLA in the fall.
  • Students who are members of St. John's Lutheran Church will participate in the Jr. Choir.  The choir meets twice a week during the school day.  The choir members are taught some music theory as they learn a wide variety of songs. They use their talents to praise our Lord in church services.
  • The students as a class or as part of the whole school will sing in church services on occasion throughout the school year.
  • The children perform in a show at the end of the school year.  These shows are ususally musicals, however, the teachers may choose a different format if they desire.
