Please note - We will be starting our SonBeams program on January 30, rather than January 23, due to the questionable weather forecast! Parents and caregivers are invited to bring their child(ren) ages 2 – 4 to this free early childhood experience.  Our next session will begin on January 30, 2019.  We will be diving into Bible stories, discovering new skills, and meeting new friends while preparing our little ones with fundamental skills necessary for school.
What is SonBEAMS?

St. John’s Lutheran School hosts an informal and free, learning group, called SonBEAMS for 2 and 3 year olds twice a year.  We will hold a six week session beginning on January 23.  We meet on Wednesday mornings.  We begin each session at 8:30 with some play time in the gym.  At 8:45 the children and parents/caregivers move into the 4 & 5 year old kindergarten classroom for a brief Bible lesson, some singing, and some activities with shapes, colors, and numbers.  The children, along with the 4 year olds, move back to the gym after this for some motor skill activities and then make some sort of project.  We are usually done by 9:45. The purpose of this playgroup is to provide some social time, give the little ones a very brief glimpse into a school setting, and let them hear about their Savior.  Parents have asked me, “What if my child isn’t ready to sit and listen to a Bible lesson?”  This usually only lasts about 3 minutes, and some children aren’t ready to sit until they are around 3 ½ years old.  This is okay!  That’s what it’s all about – simply exposing the children to other children and a school setting. It is encouraged, but not necessary, to be able to attend each class.  SonBEAMS is free to attend and siblings are welcome.  Drop-ins are welcome; however, for planning purposes, pre-registration is appreciated.  If you’d like more information, have any questions, or would like to register, please call school at (920) 928-3296 and ask for me.  You may register for the fall session on our website under the school tab, also.
